iTunes U

iTunes U is a feature of the iTunes Store that gives users access to over 350,000 free lectures, audio books, and lesson plans from hundreds of universities, cultural, and education institutions such as the Library of Congress, Cambridge, Princeton, Harvard, and Yale. This is a terrific resource for educators download lectures and lesson plans over any educational topic to gain new ideas or inspiration for their own classrooms. Here are some of the amazing resources you will find at iTunes U:

  • Subscribe to Yale Open Courses, free audio lectures will be downloaded to your iTunes account as they become available.
  • Download free tutorials over almost any software such as Final Cut Pro, Excel, Moodle, and PhotoShop
  • Download videos, podcasts, and audio books about important historical figures such as Abraham Lincoln

The Thinkfinity Community is a free opportunity to connect with colleagues online, share resources, and join discussions with educational groups across the country. Each week on the front page you will find a featured lesson plan and interactive tool, education news, a featured blog, today in history, an invitation to join a weekly discussion, and a monthly webinar. All lesson plans are designed to meet state standards and easily accessed through a searchable database.

Teaching Fellowship Competition for K-12 Teachers

Three public school teachers and one Catholic school teacher will be selected to travel to Rwanda this summer to study business solutions to poverty. K-12 teachers in all subject areas are welcome to apply and to spend two weeks in Rwanda meeting with leaders in Rwanda’s private, government, and educational sectors. (more…)

Don’t Miss the Deadline for Lowe’s Toolbox Grants

One thousand schools will receive grants up to $5000 to fund creative school improvement projects such as creating a reading garden, enhancing a playground, creating a physical fitness area, a peer tutoring center, or almost any school improvement project you can think of. K-12 public schools are eligible to apply online by submitting school contact information and a short summary of the project. Win up to $3000 to Create a Healthier Environment at Your School

K-12 public schools are eligible to win up to $3000 through the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. Fuel Up to Play 60 was created to help schools spread student awareness and provide opportunities for healthy eating and increased physical activity at school.
